1622- English mathematician William Oughtred develops the first ruler

of calculation.

1642- French researcher Blaise Pascal creates the first calculator.

1822- The English mathematician Charles Babbage designs a mechanical computer, but it never left the drawing board.

1847- The binary system is created by the English mathematician George Boole.

1880- The American Herman Hollerith creates an electromechanical data processor. The system used punched cards to enter data.

1930- In the United States, electrical engineer Vannevar Bush develops a computer using radio tubes.

1946- American engineers John William Mauchly and John Presper Eckart Jr develop the ENIAC, the first electronic computer. The ENIAC was developed to serve US military interests in World War II. It served to make the calculations in the development of the atomic bomb.

1954- The electronics company Texas Instruments manufactures the transistor using silicon.

1956 - The first computer using transistors appears at MIT - Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

1963- Douglas Engelbart patents the mouse.

1964- Paul Baran, American researcher, designs and creates the first computer network interconnected by wires.

1966- IBM develops the Ramac 305, using memory disks with a capacity of 5 megabits.

1968- Douglas Engelbart creates a system with mouse, keyboard and windows

(Windows).

1971- Intel creates the MCS-4, the first personal microcomputer with the 4004 processor.

1972- The company Atari creates the first video game with the Pong game.

1975- develop the Basic language, the first language for microcomputers, . Earlier languages were suitable for large and medium computers.

1975- Bill Gates and Paul Allen found Microsoft.

1976- Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs designed and developed the Apple I micro. In the same year, the duo formed the Apple Computer Company.

1981- IBM launches the micro PC 5150.

1985- Microsoft Windows operating system and Word 1.0

(first version of word processor).

1989- Tim Berners-Lee, European researcher creates the World Wide Web

(WWW) that originates the Internet.

1991- Linus Torvald releases the open source Linux operating system.

1992- The American company Microsoft releases the Windows 3.1 operating system. The new version of Windows incorporates technologies aimed at using CD-Roms.

1993- The first browser, NCSA Mosaic, appears.

1993- The processor company Intel puts the Pentium processor on the market.

1994- The Internet browser Netscape Navigator is created.

1995- Windows 95 hits the market, incorporating the Internet Explorer browser.

1995- Created the Java language by Sun Microsystems.

1997- Garri Kasparov, world chess champion, loses to IBM's Deep Blue computer.

1997- Justin Fraenkel develops Winamp, a program used to listen to music in MP3 format.

1998- Microsoft releases Windows 98.

1999- Intel launches the Pentium III processor on the market.
